Each month, you can take part in a virtual photography theme dedicated solely to Days Gone. Capture photos ranging from the terrifying Freakers to the beautiful landscapes of Days Gone by using the in-game photo mode feature. Plus, you have the chance to have your photo permanently added to The Broken Road! Check out the current month’s theme below.

Theme #12 – Days Gone FreakFest

October 5 – October 31

It’s October, so you know what that means – spooky season time! As the leaves begin to change colors, the air gets a little cooler, football is back on television and pumpkin spice flavored everything is here, our eyes are set upon the conclusion of the month with Halloween. This is the time of year when people watch horror movies, play scary games and delve into the creepy and dark stories that make our hairs on the back of our necks stand up. With that, this year I wanted to take advantage of the horror themes in Days Gone and enjoy the spooky month of October with… Days Gone FreakFest!

Days Gone FreakFest will run all month long ending at the end of the night on October 31st and will replace #VPDaysGone for this month only. This little event invites you to celebrate the Halloween season by sharing the horror of Days Gone. This can include video clips, gifs, screenshots, photo edits and anything else horrific and creative! From a short video clip of you taking down a horde, to a shot captured of a Freaker in photo mode and everything in between. All you have to do is use #DaysGoneFreakFest to participate. Have a spooktacular time!

*Due to the change for this month, there will be no #VPDaysGone Feature of the Month. Feel free to share as much Days Gone horror as you want! All your posts will be added to a Moment on Twitter at the end of the month. Plus, a weekly moment called Freaker Friday highlighting that week’s photos/videos for the event.

Theme #11 – Travel Oregon

September 7 – September 30

Information:

  • Theme: TRAVEL OREGON

For this month’s theme I am looking for photos of various SIGNS that are scattered throughout Oregon. Here are a few examples:

  • Your photos must be captured in Photo Mode
  • Tag your posts using #VPDaysGone. You can also tag me to make sure I see it!
  • NEW! All posts suited to the theme will be quote retweeted and added to a moment at the end. This new format will hopefully allow more visibility for YOUR shots. Sometimes regular retweets get lost in the shuffle and people still may not see your photos.
  • A max of ONE post. It can include up to 4 photos in that post
  • Last chance to enter your photos for this theme will be on Wednesday, September 30th at 11:59pm EST
  • ONE photo will be selected as the monthly feature to be put on the blog for the VP Days Gone Feature and highlighted on Twitter

*I have a challenge for the community with this month’s theme… As a group, can we capture every NPC in Days Gone? I would love to be able to include and display every NPC in the game in the moment at the end! All characters are up for grabs, except Deacon of course. Have fun!

Theme #7 – Action

May 4 – May 31

*New Addition*:

To add a little flare to VP Days Gone and provide more incentive for you to participate, at the end of each monthly theme I will be choosing ONE photo to feature. This feature will permanently stay on thebrokenroad.blog on its own separate page titled “VP Days Gone Feature.” The page will be located under the menu, PhotoMode –> Themes. Plus, if you are chosen as the feature for the month it will also be highlighted on Twitter as its own tweet with credit to you. Over time, this will accumulate to be a collection of stellar photos from people around the community to display on the blog.

How will I determine what photo gets featured?

At the end of each month, I will be looking for the one photo that stands apart from the rest. Does it interpret the theme? Is it original? How well does it represent Days Gone? My choosing will not be based off popularity, but merit of the photo itself. This is not a competition, but a way to recognize someone’s work and display the capabilities of Days Gone photo mode.

Due to the new addition, I needed to adjust one rule. Each month, I will now only accept ONE tweet per person for VP Days Gone. That tweet can include up to 4 photos. I made this change to give everyone a fair opportunity to be featured, and to make sure I can look through each photo properly. A quick recap of the rules are below.

We’re back with a new theme for the month of November! This time the theme was decided by YOU, via the poll from Twitter. The results are shown below. Thank you to all who voted!

The winner is… Deacon St. John! Share your best photos of our favorite drifter and bounty hunter. As long as Deacon St. John is the focus of the photo, you have free range to come up with whatever you like. Want something silly? Go ahead! How about the popular portrait shots? Yes please! Maybe you want Deacon in action battling against a horde, or cruising his bike through the wilderness of Oregon? Let’s see it all!

I wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who participated in last month’s Freakshow theme. There were a lot of entries and I’m glad you took the time to share them! Also, this will be the last theme held in 2019 as we will be taking the month of December off. Due to the holidays and everyone’s busy schedule for this time of year, we will resume with our fourth theme in January 2020.

Hello, Days Gone fans and Virtual Photographers! Its time to fuel up your bike because starting today, the first Days Gone Virtual Photography theme begins! This idea is inspired by the other themes held in the virtual photography community, along with the stunning shots I constantly see players capture from Days Gone. A photo mode this good, deserves its own theme. Plus, you already know how much I love Days Gone.

The first theme is… COLORS. This theme is meant to encourage you to really experiment with all the settings in the excellent photo mode from Days Gone to come up with creative colorful shots. The more color the better! Share your photos on Twitter using the hashtag #VPDaysGone during the next two weeks to get involved. Looking forward to seeing all your photos!
